If
a person's right to a Latvian pension arises, taking into account only
Latvian insurance periods, the pension shall be calculated in accordance
with national legal norms. If
the Latvian insurance period is not sufficient to create the right to
receive a Latvian pension, then the insurance periods of other EU / EEA
member states or contracting states are also taken into account in
determining entitlement, but the pension is calculated taking into
account only the pension capital accumulated in Latvia.
The
amount of Latvian pension granted to such persons may be less than the
minimum amount of pension specified in the state, but in addition to the
pension granted in Latvia, these persons may also receive a pension
from another state for the insurance periods accumulated there.
The
SSIA indicates the amount granted for a pension only as a pension
granted in Latvia - the granted amount is formed from the pension
capital accumulated at the 1st pension level and from the pension
capital accumulated at the 2nd pension level, if the person has added it
to the 1st level pension capital. In
addition to the pension granted in Latvia indicated by the SSIA, a
person may receive a lifetime pension (for the pension capital
accumulated at the 2nd pension level) and / or a pension from other
countries.
